Shallowstep padded along in the sewers, with nothing but the darkness as her company, but she didn't mind; it was better then rats. She enjoyed spending much of her time in the sewers, and she now knew this place like the ends of her whiskers. No matter how dark it was, she could find her way, and know exactly what was going on; she was truly at home in this place, that others would see as dangerous and disgusting. She could understand why they would feel that way, but she had come to see the good sides of just about anything. Shallowstep continued on her walk through the darkness, her eyes shut -since it wouldn't make a difference if they were open anyway- and her ears alert. She hadn't heard any threats, only the steady drip drop of water. She was kind of hoping that there were a few rats around, they would prove to be great pieces of freshkill. However... there were many times when she found herself in a very dire situation with rats. Sometimes there were so many that she'd have to run away; there was simply no fighting them, when there was so many!

TwilloShe had heard the sound of paw steps long before the she-cat had come into view, and the young cat had hidden. Leaping up onto a ledge well above the path that ran next to the sewers waters, gray tabby fur bristled, and amber eyes cold as she watched the approach of the cat. Unfortunately it was imposable to find the she-cats scent when the air was filled with so many foul smelling odors.
She had stayed in the sewers only because she didn't know where else to go. Having woken up in the city streets, with no memory of anything or anyone, she had run to the place that seemed most familiar. The sewers. There was something about them that called to her, not only that but she found that it was simple to find her way through the twists and turns of the dark tunnels. Waiting until the she-cat had passed she leaped down from her perch, amber eyes glancing at the other cat curiously, and despite her better judgment she called out, "hey you!?"

Shallowstep leaped in the air, and spun around to face the owner of the voice that called out to her. She had been so focused on the sound of the water, that she hadn't even notice this cat! She bristled in unease, and her tail flicked as thoughts quickly raced in her mind; Who was this cat? Was she a clan cat? Were there more cats? Was there going to be a fight? Should she run or stand her ground? The Riverclan cat bowed her head slightly and backed away slowly. It was hard to see the other cat, and she had no way of knowing if she was dangerous or not. It would be best to play it safe, and express herself as being far from a threat. This wasn't her clan's territory, so she had no right to start a fight; nor did she like fighting.

TwilloIt was obvious she had given the other cat a good scare, hell even now she refused to answer back. In fact she was moving away, an action that frightened her. She had been alone in here so long, she didn't want to be alone anymore. But it was unlikely she'd ever let anyone know that. "Don't tell me you're afraid of little 'ol me!?"
A short bust of laughter escaped her, to the normal ear it sounded fine, but deep with it it held a note of madness. "My names Twillo. You aren't one of those clan cats are you? Of course not, no clan cat would come down here, their afraid of their own shadow." She quieted down, eyes bright in the darkness. Would this she-cat be like all the others before her, would she run? Attack? The young cat tensed, prepared for the worst.

Shallowstep stopped when she heard what the other cat said. She didn't seem dangerous. Realizing that she wasn't a threat, Shallowstep sat down and relaxed. The Mercenary was a little discouraged when the other she-cat spoke of the clan cats. Yes, she was one of them... but she didn't think she should say so right now. She hadn't realized that others saw clan cats as timid and frightend... Was that because of cats like her? "... My name's Shallowstep." After a pause she finally responded to Twillo's greeting. She wondered if this cat knew of clan cat names? If so, then she'd know that she was a clan cat right away.

Twillow"Shallowstep? What a strange name," she meowed softly. Giving a soft flick of her tail she moved closer. "But I guess not everyone can have normal names."
She gazed around the damp place and sniffed, "so... how to you get out of this place?"

Shallowstep relaxed a bit more, when Twillo didn't catch on to her Clan name. She felt rather guilty having this other cat assume that they were the same, when she was really a member of Riverclan, but she didn't want to anger this cat; so she wouldn't mention that she was in a clan, though she wouldn't say she wasn't either. She shifted on her paws, in a bit of nervousness as Twillo got a little closer, but she didn't move away. She felt anxious being too close to other cats, but she tolerated it since she would hate to offend them. Shallowstep flicked her ears hearing the other cat's question, and she blinked in surprise. Did this cat not know how to get out? Was she stuck in here? She decided not to assume that, but she would answer the question regardless. "It's tricky, but the surest way to get out is to follow the fresh, outside, scent."
