Name of RPG: Zemes Devinu
Plotline:The land of Zemes Devinu(“Land of the Nine”) lies on the top part of the world, stretching nearly all the way across the northern hemisphere. Eight deities lay at each corner of the map: To the farthest north is the Eagle; to the Northeast is the mighty Polar Bear; to the East, the mountain-going Ram; to the Southeast, the Rat; traversing the great seas to the south, the Snake; to the Southwest coast and deserts, the tortoise; guarding the forests of Old, the swift Deer; and to the Northwest tundra and mountains, the Dog.
At the center of it all lies a great volcano where the Dragon, the beast who’s magic created them all, slumbers.
Throughout the land, many factions exist. Some are followers of the Dieties: The BirdMasters(bird), the White-Claw Knights(Polar Bear), the MountainMen(Ram),the Shadowfoot(Rat), the Siren(Snake), the Chroniclers(Tortoise), the Rangers(Deer), the Dogma(Dog), and the Imperial(Dragon).
Some follow darker beasts, the Daráhco and the Déamoa, creatures who are cause for disaster and chaos, some infiltrating places by possessing other intelligent beings as well as people who worship and use them to their own gain.
And the rest, following their own rules, not following either, such as the Raiders and bandits, or nomad kind that travel the land like the Foxlings.
Species:
Humans:
-pretty self explanatory- xD
Foxlings:
Very intelligent nomadic beings, their kind have mastered various arts from magic to technology to herbatology and healing to literature and are very versatile in just about everything they do. Most commonly they can be found as sources for information, but they tend to work as merchants and almost always require a price. Be wary though, for they are typically very sly and have mastered the art of trickery. As far as fighting goes though, they prefer to weedle their way out of conflict or just run like Hell, with fighting being the only thing they are inadept at, since they don't like to if it can be avoided. If pushed, they can be dangerous, but its pretty rare.
Faldea:
Followers of the former Cat Diety, they are more commonly called Mouser's, but the true name of their race is Faldea. Most commonly they have cat-like characteristics in human form, and depending on the individual and bloodlines, some can turn into felines of various kinds as well. They are very prideful and often haughty, and do not take well to others outside their own kind, as they are looked down upon by most of Zemes Devinu.
Canisda:
Commonly called the Dogma, not all Canisda are followers of the organized church of their Diety and prefer a more freelance lifestyle. These are typically the more violent ones who don't want to solve everything peaceably or be held to tenets and generally just roam free. They are not overly aggressive but it is a bad idea to get on their bad side. Canisda of the Dogma are far more peacable and try to avoid conflict. Almost all are undyingly loyal.
Naga:
Commonly referred to as the Siren, their species is called the Naga, people with snake/fish/serpent-like qualities who dwell mainly in water but can take on a mostly human appearance. They have the ability of magic and illusion through song, which more often then not, leads sea-going people they don't want there to their death's. More powerful Naga can transform into large serpents but most of the time, they call upon large sea-snakes by which they may ride or team up with in order to accomplish things easier.
Avaris:
More commonly referred to as BirdMasters, they have a special bond with any kind of bird and can speak to them and partner with some as their comrades and mounts. They have keen eyes and somewhat bird-like faces in characteristics and are adept at healing, but other than that, they do not have any special abilties. They have strict rules and customs but are a more artistic and open-minded group, dressing in rather regal attire in their own home on the islands and to the north, and dressing in attire that hides their appearance when around others outside their own kind most of the time, making them rather mysterious to most.
Factions:
The Dogma:
Followers of the dog diety, they are generally peaceful by nature, but are not afraid to fight if necassary to protect what's important. Usually undyingly loyal, their main home location is in the mountains, tundra, and forest north of the largest stretch of desert on the continent. Most often they are found at abbies and cathedrals across the land, following the tenets of their beliefs dutifully.
The BirdMasters:
Followers of the bird diety. Living on isles off the main coast that are otherwise unreachable by anything but air, they begin raising their first avian partner at a young age and spend their time forging bonds with various types of birds, training to become masters. Once they reach a certain age and experience level, they begin to help protect sea borders from other countries further off, bring news to different areas, and monitor country and region relations. Typically they do not let outsiders onto the islands in which they dwell and they vary between different climates, spread out along the edges of Zemes Devinu.
Mouser's:
Followers of the former Cat Diety, they have become mercenaries and outlaws across the land since they and their diety were dropped from the ranks of the others. They harbor a great hatred toward followers of other dieties and generally keep to themselves when it come to personal affairs, rarely if ever getting involved with anyone outside their race unless money and business is involved.
Raiders:
Bandits and outlaws on horseback that have formed groups together, they attack towns and travelers for their money, supplies, and treasures, most often killing them in the process. Some groups are more rag-tag and disorganized then others, some small and some large. They usually consist of a leader and second in command with other various types of ranks below that and are always characterized by their groups emblem stained somewhere in plain view on their horse. They do not usually have one single place that they live, instead living off their horses and moving from one place to the other, though some groups stake a general territory as their own. They are generally a rough bunch and strong but whether they are courageous or cowardly is different in each group and individual. They have no restriction of species or race.
Siren:
The followers of the Snake Diety, they reside to the south coast of Zemes Devinu. Typically they are mostly human by appearance but far from it in nature. They make a huge living off marketing fish caught in their own territory and are allied with the serpents of the sea, children of the Snake Diety, while some of the more powerful ones can turn into serpents themselves. While they are allied with humans and other species of Zemes Devinu, beware travelling in their territory. If they don’t want you there, likely you will be allured by their song and meet your death at the bottom of the sea.
Rangers:
The followers of the Deer Diety, they are actually a group consisting of a couple different species and branched into several sub-factions to watch over the large forests to the west. Most often mounted on large stags, they are very stealthy and watchful, knowledgeable about all sorts of things from close combat to ranged to healing. Dressing in the colors of the forest, they blend well and travel effortlessly, even through dense undergrowth and can sneak right up next to someone without being seen. Some are skilled in magic’s as well but only a small number and due to their society, they have great restrictions on what type of magic’s and only certain species are able to harness its power.
Place: This is just a so far rough map of Zemes Devinu =3
I'm still working on some areas that you can probably see are blank... >.> though some input for types of landscapes would be nice! =^.^=
Time: No particular time in history, but the setting is similar to medieval times, like 1200-1400’s in Europe.
I’d also like it if people could come up with their own original characters/ideas/factions/whatever if you have any good ones!
